Few capitals carry the weight of history quite like Phnom Penh. A short distance away, the National Museum houses one of the finest collections of Khmer sculpture in the world, its terracotta pavilions arranged around a courtyard garden that feels genuinely removed from the city outside. These two sites alone account for a significant portion of what draws culturally minded visitors to the capital, and both reward unhurried attention.
