Ponta Delgada sits on the southern coast of São Miguel, the largest island in the Azores archipelago, roughly equidistant between Lisbon and the eastern seaboard of North America. Within forty minutes in almost any direction, the urban fabric dissolves entirely into crater lakes, hydrothermal valleys, and ridgelines thick with hydrangeas.
