Serralves Foundation

The Serralves Foundation in Porto is one of the most significant contemporary art institutions in Portugal, bringing together a world-class museum, a striking Art Deco villa, and an expansive park within a single estate in the west of the city. The museum building, designed by the acclaimed Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira and inaugurated in 1999, is itself a landmark of modern architecture, its white geometric forms drawing visitors as much as the collections within. The foundation holds a substantial permanent collection of contemporary art alongside a rotating programme of temporary exhibitions that has established its reputation across Europe.

Beyond the galleries, the Serralves Park spreads across roughly 18 hectares of gardens, woodland, and meadows that surround the pink Art Deco Casa de Serralves. Currently available to visitors is the Serralves Park entry ticket, which includes access to the Treetop Walk, a raised pathway that offers an unusual perspective across the tree canopy and the landscaped grounds below.
