About You & It
You & It is a South Korean musical receiving its London premiere at the King's Head Theatre in Islington, running from 20 August to 26 September 2026. Set in a near future where artificial intelligence is an ordinary part of daily life, it follows a grieving widower who is offered the chance to speak again with an AI built in the image of his late wife, and has to work out what that reunion is actually worth.
Written by Seoeun Oh with music and lyrics by Q Lee, the show won Best Musical at the 13th Daegu International Musical Festival and has since played across South Korea, Taiwan and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This London staging is directed by Esther Jun, presented by EG Musical Company and MCG Productions, and performed in English by a cast of two: Olivier Award nominee Frances Mayli McCann and Zachary Pang.
What to expect
This is a chamber piece rather than a spectacle: two performers, one room, and 1 hour 50 minutes played straight through with no interval. The questions it asks about grief, memory and what separates a person from a very good copy of one land harder at close range, which is the argument for seeing it in a 200 seat house rather than a large one. Expect an emotional and quietly unsettling evening rather than a night of big production numbers.
King's Head Theatre and getting there
The King's Head Theatre is one of London's best known off West End venues, founded in 1970 above a pub on Upper Street and, since January 2024, housed in a purpose built 200 seat auditorium a few doors along at Islington Square. Its stage has launched a long list of careers over five decades, and its programme leans towards new writing and queer storytelling. The theatre is a short walk from Angel station on the Northern line, with Highbury and Islington a little further north.
