Palazzo Braschi stands on the Piazza Navona in central Rome, occupying one of the last great aristocratic palaces built during papal rule. Commissioned by Pope Pius VI for his nephew Luigi Onesti Braschi in the late eighteenth century, the building was designed by Cosimo Morelli in a neoclassical style and remained in private hands until the early twentieth century, when the Italian state acquired it. Its grand staircase and frescoed interiors are among the finest surviving examples of late papal domestic architecture in the city.

Today the palace houses the Museum of Rome, a civic collection dedicated to the history, customs, and daily life of Rome from the medieval period through to the nineteenth century. The permanent collection includes paintings, sculptures, prints, and decorative objects that trace the transformation of the city across the centuries. Reserved entry tickets allow visitors to explore the collection at their own pace, moving through rooms that retain much of their original decorative grandeur alongside the historical material on display.
