O miejscu

O tym miejscu

Tate Modern occupies the former Bankside Power Station on the south bank of the Thames, a vast brick building designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and transformed into one of the world's most visited modern and contemporary art museums by architects Herzog and de Meuron. The conversion, which opened in 2000, preserved the monumental Turbine Hall as a dramatic free-roaming space that has hosted landmark commissioned works by artists including Louise Bourgeois, Olafur Eliasson, and Ai Weiwei. The permanent collection spans painting, sculpture, photography, and installation from 1900 to the present, drawing on works by Picasso, Rothko, Dali, and many others.

Visitors can explore the galleries independently or join one of the guided experiences currently available, including the Tate Modern Discovery Tour and the Semi-Private Guided Tour, both of which offer structured introductions to the collection and the building's remarkable industrial past. The museum sits directly across the Millennium Bridge from St Paul's Cathedral, making it a natural part of any extended visit to central London.
