The neighbourhood of Saint-Cyprien, across the Garonne, offers a slightly different pace, with independent shops and the Musée des Abattoirs, a contemporary art museum housed in a former slaughterhouse. Les Carmes and the streets around the Place Saint-Georges have their own character, dense with covered markets and the kind of food culture that Toulouse takes seriously.
