Tentang tempat
The Kit Kat Club is a theatre in London that has been purpose-built to house the immersive, reconfigured production of Cabaret, the landmark musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb. Located within the Playhouse Theatre in Northumberland Avenue, the space was transformed by designer Tom Scutt to resemble the seedy, seductive interior of a 1930s Berlin nightclub, with the audience seated at cabaret-style tables surrounding a central stage. The effect collapses the distance between performer and spectator in a way that a conventional proscenium arrangement cannot.
The production, directed by Rebecca Frecknell and originally conceived by Rufus Norris and Tom Deering at the Donmar Warehouse, transferred here following significant acclaim. The Kit Kat Club is not simply a rebranded auditorium; it is an environment designed to make the political and moral atmosphere of Weimar-era Germany feel immediate. Cabaret continues its run at this address, drawing audiences into a world of sequins, shadows, and gathering dread.
