What is Christmas Carol Goes Wrong about?

The Cornley Drama Society has somehow got hold of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and it is going about as well as you would expect. Sets arrive late, actors go missing, and a simmering feud over who gets to play Scrooge threatens to bring the whole evening down around them. From Mischief, the company behind The Play That Goes Wrong, this is the classic Christmas story delivered via collapsing scenery and spectacularly bad decisions.

Who created Christmas Carol Goes Wrong?

The show is written by Mischief's founding trio Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, the writers of The Play That Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong, and directed by Matt DiCarlo. It began life as a BBC television special in 2017 before being reworked for the stage, premiering in late 2025 and selling out its first West End season at the Apollo Theatre.
