St Mark's Bell Tower, known in Italian as the Campanile di San Marco, rises nearly 99 metres above the Piazza San Marco, making it the tallest structure in Venice and one of the most recognisable landmarks on the Italian peninsula. The current tower was completed in 1912, a faithful reconstruction of the medieval original that collapsed without warning in 1902. For centuries before that collapse, the Campanile served the city as a lighthouse for sailors navigating the lagoon, a watchtower, and a belfry whose five bells each carried a distinct civic meaning, from summoning the Senate to marking the end of the working day.

Visitors who reach the top by lift are rewarded with unobstructed views across the terracotta rooftops of Venice, the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, and on clear days the peaks of the Dolomites to the north. Tickets available through this page include straightforward entry, entry combined with access to the Venice History 3D Museum, and a guided walking tour of the surrounding piazza and its architecture.
