Grande Galerie de l'Évolution

The Grande Galerie de l'Évolution occupies the central nave of the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in the Jardin des Plantes, Paris. Originally opened in 1889 and restored to its full glory in 1994, the building is a remarkable example of nineteenth-century iron and glass architecture, designed by Jules André and later renovated by Paul Chemetov and Borja Huidobro. Its soaring interior houses one of the most spectacular natural history displays in the world: a vast procession of taxidermied animals moving across the main floor as if mid-migration, surrounded by specimens from the oceans, the savannah, and the polar regions.

The gallery traces the story of life on Earth, from the diversity of species to the fragile relationships between living things and their environments.
