Belém Tower on a 16th-century fortified landmark on the northern bank of the Tagus River in Lisbon, built between 1516 and 1521 as part of Portugal's coastal defence system. Designed in the Manueline style by Francisco de Arruda, the tower is one of the most architecturally detailed structures from Portugal's Age of Discovery, and entry tickets give access to its full interior and exterior terraces.
