Piazza del Duomo

The Piazza del Duomo stands at the ceremonial and architectural centre of Florence, drawing together three of the most significant medieval and Renaissance structures in Italy. The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, crowned by Filippo Brunelleschi's extraordinary dome completed in 1436, dominates the square alongside the Baptistery of San Giovanni, one of the oldest buildings in the city, and Giotto's slender campanile.
