Palazzo Altemps is a Renaissance palace in the historic centre of Rome, forming part of the Museo Nazionale Romano alongside Palazzo Massimo and the Baths of Diocletian. The building itself is as much an attraction as its contents: its courtyard, frescoed ceilings, and loggia survive in remarkable condition, offering a sense of the aristocratic life that once unfolded within these walls. The collection housed here focuses on ancient Greek and Roman sculpture, including several pieces from the celebrated Ludovisi collection assembled in the seventeenth century. Among the most significant works on display is the Ludovisi Throne, a carved marble relief of exceptional quality, and the Galatian Suicide, a dramatic group that has drawn scholars and visitors for centuries.

Reserved entry tickets covering Palazzo Altemps, Palazzo Massimo, and the Baths of Diocletian allow visitors to move between three of Rome's most important archaeological sites without queuing at each door, making it straightforward to explore the full breadth of the Museo Nazionale Romano's permanent holdings across the city.
