Din guide til Costa Adeje
Costa Adeje sits on the south-western coast of Tenerife, where the Atlantic trades its grey northern temperament for something altogether warmer and more reliable. The Canary Islands sit closer to the Sahara than to mainland Spain, and that geography shapes everything here: the sun is consistent, the sea temperature rarely drops below comfortable, and the landscape behind the resort shifts from manicured promenades to the dramatic volcanic cliffs of Los Gigantes within a short sail. This is not a city in the conventional sense but a purpose-built resort municipality that has grown into one of the most visited corners of Spain, drawing visitors who come specifically for the water, the weather, and the spectacle of the ocean.
The coastline is the organising principle of life in Costa Adeje. Playa del Duque and Playa de Fañabé are the two beaches most visitors gravitate towards first, both backed by a promenade of restaurants, bars, and the kind of unhurried commercial life that resorts in warmer climates tend to produce. The resort blends into the wider conurbation of Las Américas to the north, and the two areas share a seafront that rewards an evening walk as much as a morning swim. Inland, the terrain rises quickly towards the municipality of Adeje itself, a quieter Canarian town with a parish church and a barranco, the Barranco del Infierno, that offers a reminder of the volcanic topography underlying all of this.
