Larissa Station, known in Greek as Stathmos Larissis, is Athens's main railway terminus for routes heading north through mainland Greece. The station takes its name from the city of Larissa in Thessaly, reflecting the historic rail corridor it anchors, and it remains the departure point for long-distance trains connecting Athens to Thessaloniki, the Balkans, and beyond. The building sits in the Kolonos district, close to the city centre, and has served generations of travellers making their way through the Greek interior.

Today the station is also a practical starting point for day and multi-day excursions into central Greece. Among the experiences currently available from Larissa Station are a full-day guided trip to the Meteora monasteries and sandstone rock formations in Thessaly, as well as a two-day itinerary that combines guided monastery tours with overnight accommodation. Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, draws visitors for its extraordinary geology and its Byzantine-era monasteries perched on near-vertical pinnacles of rock.
