Boom Chicago

Boom Chicago is Amsterdam's home of English-language improv and sketch comedy, operating from the Rozengracht in the Jordaan district. Founded in 1993 by American comedians, the theatre built its reputation on sharp, fast-moving shows that blend audience participation with topical satire. Over the decades it has served as a launching pad for performers who went on to careers at Saturday Night Live and beyond, giving it a reputation that extends well past the Dutch capital.

Today the stage hosts a rotating programme of live comedy experiences, including the flagship Boom Chicago Improv Comedy Show, where no two performances are alike, and The Comedy Embassy, a show rooted in the theatre's long tradition of politically aware, internationally minded humour. A partnership with Hard Rock Cafe Amsterdam also brings comedy into a broader night-out setting. Sitting in the audience here means joining a crowd drawn from across the world, united by the particular pleasure of watching skilled improvisers build something entirely unrepeatable from scratch.
