Few places in the Mediterranean carry their history as visibly as Chania. The old Venetian harbour, with its lighthouse standing at the end of a curved stone breakwater, frames a skyline that layers Minoan prehistory, Byzantine churches, Ottoman minarets, and Venetian arsenals into a single, walkable panorama.
