Few places on the Turkish Aegean coast carry as much layered meaning as Bodrum. The old town spreads back from the waterfront in a tangle of whitewashed walls, bougainvillea, and narrow lanes that eventually open onto Kumbahçe Bay to the east and the main marina to the west.
