Mamma Mia! The PartyThe O2ABBADinner Show

Booking Mamma Mia! The Party is not like booking a normal West End show. There are no seat numbers, no stalls or grand circle, and no single stage to face. Instead you pick a price tier, and you are seated at a shared table somewhere inside Nikos Taverna, a Greek island world built specially inside The O2. The whole story then plays out all around you while you eat. It is one of London's most joyful nights out, but the unusual booking flow leaves a lot of people unsure which ticket to choose and what they are actually paying for. This guide breaks down the three tiers, what differs between them, and exactly which table is the best pick for your group, your budget and the experience you want. tickadoo is built by the founders of London Theatre Direct, so we know these tickets inside out.

At a glance: Mamma Mia! The Party tickets

  • What it is: an immersive dinner-and-show experience created by ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus, not the West End musical. You get a welcome drink, a four-course Greek feast, the live show and an ABBA disco, all in one ticket.
  • Where: Nikos Taverna, a purpose-built Greek taverna inside The O2 in Greenwich, London SE10.
  • How booking works: tickets are sold per guest, not per table, across three price tiers (A, B and C). Every tier gets the same meal, show and party, the difference is only where you sit and how clear your view is.
  • Prices from: around £119.90 per guest for Tier C, rising through Tier B to around £198 per guest for Tier A, with the exact price varying by date and demand.
  • How long: around four hours. Doors open at 6:30pm for evening shows (Wednesday to Sunday) and 12 noon for matinees (Saturday and Sunday).

What is Mamma Mia! The Party?

Mamma Mia! The Party is an immersive theatrical dining experience created by ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus, with an English script by Sandi Toksvig. It is set on the Greek island of Skopelos, where the original Mamma Mia! film was shot, inside a full-size recreation of a family-run taverna called Nikos Taverna. Crucially, this is not the Mamma Mia! musical you may have seen in the West End. There is no proscenium stage and no rows of seats facing front. You are a guest at the taverna, seated at a table with a four-course meal, and the comic, romantic story unfolds at multiple points all around the room as the evening goes on, ending in a full ABBA disco.

If you are actually after the traditional stage musical, that is a different show at a different venue: see our guide to the Mamma Mia! musical at the Novello Theatre. The Party is the dinner, dancing and live-entertainment experience at The O2, and it is what this guide covers.

How booking works: tiers, tables and per-guest pricing

Two quirks make booking Mamma Mia! The Party different from any normal theatre ticket, and understanding them is the key to choosing well.

First, you book per person, not per table. You choose how many guests are in your party and the system seats you at a table that fits. Tables range from 2 up to 8 guests depending on the zone, and on busier dates smaller parties can be seated alongside other guests at a larger shared table. It is part of the fun, taverna tables are communal by design, but if you want a table to yourselves it is worth booking a party size that matches a table size exactly (2, 4, 6 or 8) and booking early.

Second, you choose a price tier rather than a specific seat. There are three tiers, A, B and C, and they map to different areas of the taverna. Here is the single most important thing to understand: every tier includes exactly the same welcome drink, the same four-course Greek feast, the same show and the same access to the after-party. You are not paying more for a better meal or a longer show. The only thing the tier changes is where your table sits in the room and how clear your view of the action is.

The three seating tiers explained

Because the action happens all around the room rather than on one stage, "the best seat" here means a central table on the ground floor with the action passing close by, rather than a front-row seat facing a stage. When you book, you choose your tier from a screen like this one, which lists the zones and table sizes for each band. This is how the tiers break down.

The Mamma Mia! The Party booking screen showing Tier A seating from 198 pounds, Tier B from 170.50 pounds and Tier C from 119.90 pounds per guest, with the zones and table sizes for each tier

Tier A, from around £198 per guest (the best views)

Tier A is the premium band and the most popular choice. These tables are right in the thick of it: the ground-floor courtyard, the north and south terraces, the west terrace, and high-level tables in the beach bar area. This is where you are closest to the performers and most likely to be part of the action. Tier A tables tend to be the largest too, accommodating up to 8, 6 or 4 guests, which makes this the natural pick for a celebration or a bigger group who want to be at the heart of the party.

Tier B, from around £170.50 per guest (a step back)

Tier B sits a little further out and higher up: the north and south upper terraces, the west terrace upper and mezzanine levels, and high-level tables on the south and north balcony. You still get the full experience and a good vantage point over the taverna, just with a touch more distance from the performers than Tier A. Some Tier B tables can be partly affected by a pillar or part of the set. Tables here seat up to 6, 5, 4 or 2, so this tier works well for smaller groups and couples who want to keep the price down without dropping to a restricted view.

Tier C, from around £119.90 per guest (best value, partially restricted view)

Tier C is the entry price and the best value on the night, with tables on the south balcony, the south terrace lower and upper levels, and the beach bar area. The trade-off is in the name: these are partially-restricted-view tables, which means a support pillar or part of the set may sit in your eyeline for some of the show. It is the single thing people most often misunderstand about Mamma Mia! The Party, so book Tier C with eyes open. The good news is that the experience is built to move around the whole room, the music and the meal are identical to every other tier, and the after-party puts everyone on their feet anyway. If your priority is the atmosphere, the food and the dancing rather than an uninterrupted sightline, Tier C is genuinely good value. Tables seat up to 6, 5, 4 or 2.

Which tickets are the best to book?

Once you know the tiers cost more purely for location and view, choosing comes down to what you want from the night.

  • Best for a big celebration: Tier A on the ground-floor courtyard. The 8-seat tables are here, you are closest to the performers, and a hen party, big birthday or group of friends will feel right inside the show.
  • Best for couples and small groups: Tier B. You get a clear view from a slightly raised vantage point, smaller 2 and 4-seat tables, and a price that sits comfortably between the two extremes.
  • Best value: Tier C, as long as you are relaxed about a partial obstruction. You get the same meal, show and disco for the lowest price, which makes it the smart pick if the food and the party matter more to you than a perfect sightline.
  • If a clear view matters most: avoid Tier C and choose Tier A, or a Tier B table described as having a full or only lightly affected view. The whole point of the premium tiers is that they keep the action in front of you.

What is included in your ticket

Whichever tier you book, a single Mamma Mia! The Party ticket covers the entire evening. There are no separate charges for the show or the meal, only extra drinks beyond your welcome drink are bought on the night.

  • A welcome drink served as you are shown to your table.
  • A four-course Greek feast brought out as sharing platters for the whole table, taking in mezze, starters, mains, sides and dessert. Vegetarian and vegan versions of the menu are available, and the set dishes change from time to time, so check the live menu when you book.
  • The full live show, performed around the taverna throughout the evening as your meal is served.
  • Access to the ABBA disco after the show, where the taverna turns into a dance floor and the party often runs on well beyond the four-hour mark.

Know before you go

A few practical details worth having straight before you book.

  • Running time and start times: the experience lasts around four hours. Doors open at 6:30pm for evening performances, which run Wednesday to Sunday, and at 12 noon for matinees on Saturday and Sunday. Times can change, so check your date.
  • Age policy: this is not a strictly over-18s event, but it is a lively party with a bar, so it suits older audiences best. The minimum age is 5, every guest under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian over 18, and the lead booker must be 18 or over.
  • What to wear: there is no strict dress code, so wear something you will be happy dancing in. Plenty of guests embrace the Greek-island spirit and dress up for the occasion.
  • Dietary needs: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free menus are available, with a halal option at no extra charge and a kosher option for an additional charge. Let the team know your requirements at least 48 hours ahead, as the set menu items cannot be swapped on the night, and note the kitchen may carry traces of tree nuts and sesame.
  • Groups sitting together: because booking is per guest and tables come in fixed sizes, larger parties are not automatically guaranteed one table. Book together and early, and use the experience's group-booking team for bigger parties.

What is Mamma Mia! The Party at The O2?

It is an immersive theatrical dining experience created by ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus, set in Nikos Taverna, a Greek taverna built specially inside The O2 in London. Your ticket covers a welcome drink, a four-course Greek feast, the live show performed all around your table, and an ABBA disco afterwards. The whole evening lasts around four hours.

How is Mamma Mia! The Party different from the Mamma Mia! musical?

They are two separate shows. Mamma Mia! The Party is a dinner-and-show experience at The O2 in Greenwich, where you sit at a table and the story plays out around you. The Mamma Mia! musical is a traditional stage production at the Novello Theatre in the West End. Different venue, different format and a different ticket.

What do the Tier A, B and C tickets mean?

They are the three price bands, and they change only where you sit, not what you get. Tier A covers the best ground-floor courtyard and terrace tables closest to the action, Tier B sits a little further back on upper terraces and balconies, and Tier C is the best-value band with partially-restricted-view tables where a pillar or part of the set may sit in your eyeline. The welcome drink, four-course meal, show and disco are identical in every tier.

What is included in a Mamma Mia! The Party ticket?

Every ticket includes a welcome drink, a four-course Greek feast served as sharing platters, the full live show and access to the ABBA disco after the performance. Only additional drinks beyond the welcome drink are bought separately on the night.

Is Mamma Mia! The Party suitable for children?

It is not a strictly over-18s event, but with a bar and a party atmosphere it is most enjoyed by older audiences. The minimum age is 5, every guest under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian aged over 18, and the lead booker must be 18 or over.

How long does Mamma Mia! The Party last?

The experience runs for around four hours, and the after-party often continues beyond that. Doors open at 6:30pm for evening shows from Wednesday to Sunday, and at 12 noon for matinees on Saturday and Sunday.

Will my group be able to sit together?

Bookings are taken per guest and tables come in fixed sizes from 2 up to 8 guests, so larger parties are not automatically guaranteed a single table. To sit together, book in one transaction and as early as possible, and contact the experience's group-booking team for bigger parties.
